Living on the Land
Of founding importance to MorningSun is an active and caring relationship to the natural world.
It is through the development of a comprehensive global perspective based on inclusiveness and reverence for life that we learn how to truly care for and prepare the world for our children and their children. This perspective starts at home with the simple things we do each day, and reaches out in ripples to our neighbors near and sometimes far.
A walk across the Education Center's ecologically sustainable campus, with organically cultivated flower gardens, herbs, berries, fruits, vegetables and grains will reveal MorningSun's commitment to explore harmonious ways to coexist with nature and find local sources of food.
A stroll down a trail through beautiful forests will inspire respect for the wild places.
A visit to the sheep and chickens in the small animal sanctuary will inspire a compassionate ethic towards our four-legged and winged friends.
And MorningSun will enliven its daily life and programs with traditional crafts including woodwork, baking, weaving and more.
All these elements are carefully blended together to nourish residents and guests alike, illuminating the benefits of simple and peaceful living on the land.
"It was not meant that the soul should cultivate the Earth, but that the Earth should educate and maintain the soul."
- Margaret Fuller
