Mindfulness and Sustainablity
Mindfulness is a clear and embracing awareness that helps us to be present with whatever is happening in the moment. It enables us to touch life deeply and discover peace, happiness, and fulfillment in the most ordinary events. Mindfulness allows us to develop understanding for our situation without bias and judgment. Out of this understanding we can then manifest appropriate action.

Mindfulness is an excellent support for the development of sustainable living skills.
Sustainability asks us to be both creative and courageous in our efforts to live harmoniously and peacefully with ourselves and all those around us, incuding the natural world.

When we bring mindfulness and sustainability together, we find ourselves in a process of learning to care for ourselves, our families, our society and our Earth.
This process guides us in the cultivation of physical health and emotional stability.
It helps us address social issues like conflict within groups and families.
It supports us to work towards partnerships and associations that stabilize local economy.
It leads us towards responsible and creative stewardship of natural resources.
By living in this way we help ensure that future generations will have the same opportunities for health and happiness that we have.

"The forgoing generations beheld God and nature face to face; we, through their eyes. Why should not we also enjoy an original relation to the universe? Why should not we have a poetry and philosophy of insight and not of tradition, and a religion by revelation to us, and not the history of theirs… why should we grope among the dry bones of the past, or put the living generation into masquerade out of its faded wardrobe? The sun shines to-day also."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
